Cage Combat 11 Results, Recap, Photos, and Fight Videos – Kolton Englund earns title; Servando Almaraz impresses in debut
HUMBLE, TX, September 29, 2012 – Garcia Promotions has a new lightweight champion after this past Friday night’s Cage Combat 11 event at the Humble Civic Center.
Despite a final fight card that was shortened and switched around a bit after lateness and other issues at weigh-ins, the event once again delivered with an assortment of exciting fights with young fighters looking to make a name for themselves.
In championship action, Kolton Englund took on David Montemayor for the 155 belt in the main event. The two previously faught at the Legacy Amateur Series with David winning a split decision back then but it was Kolton’s night this time. It only took little over a minute for Kolton to take his opponent down and unleash a flurry of blows to force the referee stoppage and earn his first title belt.
Also earning a mentioned tonight was Englund’s Silverback teammate Eric Thompson who evened his record up at 3-3 with a win over Chris Buffalo Rose.
As for the debuting fighters of which there were plenty, none other impressed more than Gracie Barra Westchase fighter Servando Almaraz.
It only took the bantamweight five seconds to charge across the cage and deliver a knockout punch so fierce it unfortunately had opponent Coltin Boggs leaving the arena on a stretcher.
Nonetheless, this one should undoubtedly merit TXMMA amateur knockout of the year considerations when our nomination process kicks off next month,
Below are full results and a slideshow from the event.
Make sure to stay tuned for all fight videos early next week!
