Tony Tipton and Albert Hughes lead deep squad to $1,000 team prize

14185673973_95daf62010_zDALLAS, TX, May 14, 2014 – This year’s edition of Europa Super Show: Texas was quite the attraction once again at the Europa Expo. Close to 800 competitors showed up in droves at the Dallas Convention Center at the May 10th event. They would vie for cash prizes totaling up to $5,000 to be had for the competitors on hand.

Large teams showed us as well to compete for the $1,000 team prize. Over 100 teams showed up to the event making Europa without a doubt one of the premier events of the year once again for Texas grappling. At the end of the day Genesis Jiu-Jitsu made a statement in putting on their best performance in years to win first place. The winning team scored a total of 214 points. Alvarez BJJ would come in second with 115 followed by Bastos BJJ with 75 and Next Generation with 66 points.

13978980450_3641a263aa_zThere was plenty of high-level grappling on display in the expert divisions at Europa Super Show Texas. Tony Tipton won the absolute black belt division with teammate Albert Hughes coming in second place. Two more Genesis grapplers did the same at brown with Hayward Charles and Braden Master closing out the bracket. Cooper Cardinale, John Blunschi and Brandon Emmert achieved their own gold medals at purple, blue and white belt. Meanwhile Igor Estrella and Keith Nevirs won in the open weight of the nogi brackets to finish off the day.

On the women’s side Laura Heiman of Paragon won the absolute with Valarie Taylor and Gabriella Muller coming in 2nd and 3rd place. Other impressive performances included Petya Bastos, Montana Stewart, Karen Kovach and Miriam Villar.
