Attention All U.S. Muay Thai fighters:
The Muay Thai Alliance of Texas (MTAT) has been asked to assemble a team of competitive U.S. athletes for an upcoming event sanctioned by the Federacion Mexicana de Muay Thai (FMMT) and the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA). Our country needs YOU to represent it in the first ever U.S. vs. Mexico International Muay Thai fight series. Fourteen athletes are needed to fill the team roster for two events to take place in Veracruz on March 24th and Villahermosa on March 31st. Texas Muay Thai Talent Search 8 is in the works to help determine who will represent the U.S. in March.
All interested athletes must be registered with the Muay Thai Alliance of Texas to be considered. Visit us on the web at http://www.mtalliancetx.com. GO USA! |

I had a few fighters that registered, fought in your MCCALLEN event, and have particpated in your, “Talent Searches” in Dallas. Just wondering if that had qualified them to compete for your team? Aleah Dillard 132 Jesse Nelson 155 Robert Reavis 170 Jimmy Alexander 132 Donyiell Winrow 185 Amber Gasero 125il
I say this because it takes about 6 weeks to obtain a Passport from the State Department at a cost about $150 each. Plus, travel expenses from Dallas to Brownville for the March 3 “Talent Search”, registration to the Muay Thai Alliance $45???, plus travel expenses to Veracruz & VillaHermosa. All this ultimately being an expensive last month heads up notice to potential candidates.
Will the Muay Thai Alliance sponsor the fighters choses to represent, “Team USA”? |

If you ever want another talent search in Dallas. I have a 24′ x24′ Boxing Ring near CENTRAL Dallas. More appropriate for Muay Thai than the last talent search hosted in a CAGE in Arlington. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net…..1682_n.jpg |

Felipe: All expenses to and from Mexico (round trip airfare from Houston, meals, and hotel) will be covered for members that are selected on Team USA for the two events. (Team B competes on March 24th, Team A competes on March 31st.) However, to be fair, all candidates must be registered (registration is yearly–not lifetime), and active with the MTAT, to earn their spots. Time to start representing now that we’ve cleared the path for this and future events (US vs. Brazil, U.S. vs. Argentina, etc.) BTW: With everything else covered to make event this happen, we don’t cover passport costs. :) It now becomes a matter of how bad an athlete wants to be take advantage of these opportunities. Take care and keep training hard! |

Is the selected fighters competing in both the 24th and 31st event? or is it split up by Team A and Team B? |

Felipe: Thanks for the heads up. Please make sure to get your athletes registered online and membership dues paid via the MTAT website ASAP. We will begin the process of finding suitable matchups for the event.
Fighters from all over the state (as well as out of state) have been registering for the event. We’re glad to see the enthusiasm and excitement of athletes in preparation for U.S. vs. Mexico and expect a great turnout.
Just got word from the the CBMTT (Brazilian Muay Thai Confederation) that they would like to fight in late July. We will be working overtime to make sure that U.S. vs. Brazil takes place as proposed!
Stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you in Brownsville on March 3rd! |
