LUBBOCK, TX – West Texas fight fans got their latest dose of professional MMA action this past weekend with Genesis Combat Sports presenting “Hub City Havoc” at the Fair Park Coliseum. The fight card featured 7 matchups overall and was headlined by hometown hero Eric “Big Head” Davila taking on Abilene’s Brandon Farran.

The main event between Eric Davila and Brandon Farran was as to be expected, with both strikers not giving an inch and going toe-to-toe for the duration of the three round slugfest. “Big Head” gained an advantage in the second round as Farran was slowed by a broken foot following a head kick attempt. From there Davila was able to capitalize and score points on the way to the unanimous decision in front of his hometown crowd.

Following the bout, Eric Davila announced his retirement. He reflected to the decision after the dust settled the day after the bout:

“I officially retired from professional MMA competition last night. I was able to push through a tough fight against Brandon Farran with a bad rib injury I sustained during camp. Much respect to Brandon and all of his camp. You guys are great! To my family, fans, and friends, words will never express the love I have for all of you! Thank you for all the years that you guys have supported me and shown me love! I’m just retired from competition, not fighting! I will always and forever be a fighter and I look forward to making young fighters, future champions, in this sport that I love so dearly!! Thank all of you so much! I Love all of you! – Eric Davila

Eric “Big Head” Davila concludes his career after 18 years and 52 pro fights of experience. His stat line ends at an impressive 40-12 with 6 wins in his last 8 fights.
