In Cage We Trust #1 Recap – Ryan Hollis, Jeremy Mahon, and others score convincing wins in Texas City
TEXAS CITY, TX, October 7, 2012 – A pro MMA event went down in Texas City last night after a tumultuous 24 hours prior that included plenty of confusion at weigh-ins including several cancelled fights and other issues that had those fighters left on the final card wondering if In Cage We Trust #1 was going to make it to start at the Doyle Center in Texas City.
Despite the apprehension and criticism, the final card did make it to show on Saturday night with five fights on display for fans in the Southeast Houston / Galveston area.
Highlighting the card was a blistering performance by Hard Head Hitter and Galveston area native Ryan “Riptide” Hollis who put away opponent Matt Thompson by second round TKO despite fighting on less than a weeks’ notice.
Hollis would drop his opponent with a short counter right hand pedaling backwards before coming forward and dropping him again to mark the beginning of the end. “Riptide” would call his clearly overmatched opponent back up to his feet again before hurting him a third time, forcing the ref to call a halt to the action thirty seconds into the second stanza.
Also winning quickly on the card was 4OZ Fight Club coach Jeremy Mahon who made short work of Atlanta-based opponent James Gabriel with a rear-naked choke in the first round. He now brings his winning streak up to three in a row after previously beating David Armas and Robert Lujan prior to this fight.
The card would be completed with Jamall Emmers and Sammy Smith both scoring finishes over James Gonzales and George Trujillo respectively while Raul Ponce picked up a unanimous decision win over David Mullins.

Raul Ponce over David Mullins by unanimous decision.
