Legacy Amateur Series 10 Results and Recap – Muay Thai returns to Houston
HOUSTON, TX, October 7, 2012 – If last night’s Legacy Amateur Series 10 card at Houston’s Arena Theater is of any indication, Texas may be seeing the start of a beautiful thing with the introduction of real Muay Thai competition to the event schedule.
Legacy Amateur Series 10 was the first of what could be a recurring format for Mick Maynard’s amateur event series.
According to Maynard, this was brought on by a desire to bring something fresh and new to the scene while helping push one of own personal passions by bringing Muay Thai to the masses.
As a promotion Legacy had actually already done something similar with a couple of Muay Thai themed events in the last few years but this is the first where they were able to do full Muay Thai rules – including reinforced knees, elbows, and anything one could throw with the “art of eight limbs.”
“I’m always down to try something new,” said Maynard about the event. A big K-1 kickboxing fan even before he got introduced to the sport of mixed martial arts, he’s been a proponent of bringing this type of event for some time but was just waiting for the right opportunity.
With so many events both from Legacy and other promotions hitting the area, he finally thought what better time than now to introduce this hybrid MMA/Muay Thai event format and bring something new to Houston fight fans.
Here are quick results from Legacy Amateur Series 10 along with complete photo coverage of the October 6th LAM 10 show in Houston.
