In the main evening of the evening at Legacy FC 24, Carlos Diego Ferreira was able to bring his undefeated streak to an impressive 8 straight fights as a pro, beating previously unbeaten Team Takedown fighter Chris Feist. It was a closely contested fight in this one with CDF playing the aggressor for the majority of the bout despite some early takedown attempts by Feist. Ferreira got a takedown of his own late in the third to seal the win. With this victory the Manaus, Brazil native now moves on to challenge Legacy FC 155 lbs. champion Jorge Macaco Patino for the title this November in Houston.

In the co-main event of the night at Legacy FC 24 local Texas fighter Ryan “Riptide” Hollis (Cleveland, TX) gave highly-touted US Olympian turned MMA fighter Henry Cejudo all he could handle in their three round contest. The lengthy Hollis was able to keep his opponent at bay for most of the fight with Henry content to try and trade with his taller opponent on the feet as opposed to taking the fight down to the mat. When the fight did hit the floor however, Cejudo proved more effective from the top despite some dangerous upkicks and submission attempts by Hollis. With this win Henry Cejudo also moves on to LFC 25 in Houston where he is scheduled to take on another Texas flyweight vet in Bushi Ban’s Humberto Deleon.

Also in main card action was “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holly Holm as she looked to follow up her destruction of Allana Jones against Alaskan Nikki Knudson. It was more of the same for the highly-touted boxing convert as she used her speed, athleticism, and obvious technical striking skill to stagger and overwhelm her overmatches opponent. Knudson did manage to survive until the second round in this one but a blistering side kick caught her unawares and she may have broken a rib before referee Aladin Martinez got there in time to call a halt to the fight.

Next up, Ryan “Baby Face” Benoit let loose with a little beat of steam in his bout. The Saekson Janjira protégé was supposed to be featured in a highly touted main event verses Damacio Page before the UFC vet had to pull out and was replaced by Oklahoman journeyman Cody Fuller, relegated Benoit to undercard action. Using his speed and boxing honed down with Canelo Alvarez in Mexico, Benoit attacked aggressively in this one from the opening bell and put his opponent away by TKO at the 4:53 mark of the first round.

Also performing admirably on the main card was Octagon MMA’s undefeated Damon Jackson with his game victory over fellow DFW vet Javier Obregon. This was a game fight with “Leech” Jackson using his wrestling to score the advantage throughout. He was however caught with a big kick to the head in round two that sent him down to the canvas but he was able to recover quickly and transition to his patented arm triangle choke to secure the victory in this one.

Perhaps scoring the biggest comeback type win of the night at Legacy FC 24 was Charles Byrd. He was a huge underdog taking on previously undefeated Mike Jasper at LFC 24 but proved those odds wrong in the standup fight, edging out the advantage for the bulk of the three rounds of action. Great fight and great win for the DFW native in the opening fight of the night on AXS TV.

Not to be outdone, the Legacy FC 24 prelims also served up some exciting action including undefeated Eli Tamez and his fight with Eliazar Rodriguez, The two went back and forth for three rounds with the decision going to “Tomahawk” Tamez to keep him undefeated at 6-0.

Dallas area native Hunter Tucker rebounded from his Legacy debut loss to current title contender Kevin Aguilar with a quick first round TKO victory over journeyman Douglas Frey in their bout.

RCJ Machado’s Evan Thompson scored an impressive win over Houstonian Evert Gutierrez in their bout, showing both dynamic and versatile standup along with some aggressiveness on the ground to stay undefeated at 3-0 in his pro career.

Last but certainly not least on the Legacy FC 24 card was Next Generation’s Matthew Lozano giving Octagon MMA’s Klayton Mai all he could handle (and vice versa for Mai) en route to a creative submission finish by way of inverted triangle in the third round to open the action at LFC 24.
