The Woodlands, TX, November 20, 2011 – It was another day of exciting grappling action in Texas yesterday as the F2W/WGC 2011 Texas Open rolled through North Houston’s Legends Sports Complex for a brisk day of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling.

Many teams from Houston and surrounding areas showed up including a good assortment of competitors from a Mixed Martial Arts background in addition to the usual kimono-clad grapplers.

As far as top competitors go, the day undoubtedly belonged to Elite MMA Baytown’s Robert Yamashita who won both his divisions and the GI open-weight division. The Elite instructor closed out the GI absolute with teammate Julian Vega to win the F2W/WGC belt along with free registration for life. In the No-GI division, Reed Shelger of Paradigm Training Center would shine in the semi-finals over Gracie Barra’s Terrence Ferguson before closing out the bracket with Grant Johnson of Paradigm/GFT who took home the belt for the Paradigm team after beating an impressive Isai Cabrera (Gracie Barra) among others.

Full Results will be forthcoming from F2W/WGC but we’ve got some 40+ matches covered on video courtesy of the Texas Grappling Channel. Click the link for all of them but below are some of our favorites for the day.

Also, we’ll be posting a limited selection of photos on our TXMMA Facebook Page but keep in mind that well over 1,000+ shots are already posted in the TXMMA Photo Albums from this event with more coming.
