South Texas resident pulls off improbable MMA/BJJ double feature; Wins on national TV against UFC vet then goes on to compete in 2013 BJJ Worlds

When it comes to ironman accomplishments within the realm of combat sports, Carlos Diego Ferreira may have just taken the cake with what he pulled off last weekend.

In a feat most people won’t even get the opportunity to accomplish, the Edcouch, TX resident and Manaus, Brazil native fought in the main event of Legacy Fighting Championship 20 (televised nationwide on AXS TV from Corpus Christi, TX) then turned right around and took the early-bird flight to Los Angeles, CA to compete in the 2013 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championships, the most prestigious GI tournament in the world.

All in all he did pretty well in the double-header also.

On Friday night he won his fight against 4-time UFC veteran Carlo Prater by convincing unanimous decision to remain undefeated at 7-0 and on Saturday afternoon he made it to the second round of the stacked middleweight division, losing only by narrow ref’s decision.

“I did my best and left it in God’s hands and all I can do now is train harder and be ready for the next one,” Carlos Diego Ferreira said following Saturday’s tournament. “I’m very happy and blessed with the outcome for this weekend and I’m very motivated and determined for more!”

Looking ahead, the MMA/BJJ world should expect big things from the 28 year old Carlos Diego Ferreira in both Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with his goal of making it to the UFC and also to compete in tournaments such at the 2013 No-GI Worlds later this year.

Here are some shots from TXMMA’s Mike and Felix as we covered both events Ferreira competed in this past weekend.
